There are two ways to use START V2. One option is to download and install the system to run on your own server. The other option is to run it remotely, hosted at softconf.com (or with another provider). The "look and feel" of the system is identical, no matter where it is hosted. However, the hosted option is strongly recommended. In this case, you won't have to worry about installation, maintenance, backups, or other system-related issues. This is all included. Also, whenever a new version of START is released, the hosted server will be automatically upgraded to that version. Moreover, we can provide unlimited support for installations hosted at softconf.com - as well as customizations for particular client needs. When the system is hosted elsewhere, our support options are limited.
However, if your corporation or organization's policies restrict data being stored elsewhere, then the hosted option would be available to you. Also, we will work with your IT people to ensure that the software will function in your computing environment.
Whether it's hosted or rented, a START V2 license includes free and unlimited maintenance services, free upgrades, and support, for the duration of your conference process.
